Hello. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who provides individual therapy to adults.  Let me tell you about the way I work and the kind of experience you may have in therapy with me.

“THERE IS MORE RIGHT WITH YOU THAN WRONG WITH YOU”

Jon Kabat Zinn

Therapy Work

About Me and Our Work Together

This quote by Jon Kabat Zinn, an early champion of mindfulness in the U.S., points to our inherent strengths regardless of circumstances.  I believe we all have the capacity to live with a sense of peace and calm within ourselves and with others. I also believe its hard to make changes alone.  We are fundamentally social creatures: positive change can happen in then context of a caring, emotionally supportive relationship.

EDUCATION
  • Lesley University, 2016, MA in Professional Counseling

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor, License Number: 10965

I work with adults challenged by life's transitions, significant loss, difficult emotions, feelings of confusion and interpersonal relationship problems.  My hope is that you experience me as someone genuinely curious about you and your experiences, who will listen and empathize but also challenge you in appropriate and helpful ways.  This may mean exploring how an emotion feels in the body, developing new concepts for experience, or clarifying intentions and goals, for example.  Cultivating helpful attitudes can positively impact one's ability to relate effectively to others and life experiences as they are.  Doing so, expands our boundaries of what we thought was possible.

My work is informed by my personal practice and study of mindfulness meditation, trauma informed psychotherapies, behavioral therapies, and existentially oriented psycho-dynamic psychotherapy.  Each person is unique and one or more of these orientations may be useful in some way.
